Mitigating risks of private-sector investments
in SMEs in the developing world
More effective and readily available risk mitigation
mechanisms are probably one of the most powerful ways to alleviate
poverty, by increasing the investment flows to small and medium-sized
enterprises that provide employment and basic goods and services
in low-income regions worldwide.
Today, there is a lack of suitable insurance schemes for investments
in small and medium-sized enterprises that require funding in the
range of 50,000 to 1 million USD.
To assist in closing this gap in international
development finance, we:
We assist in mobilising public-private
risk-limitation options: insurance or guarantees
We offer to help review commercial
and public-private partnership insurance that reduce risks associated
with market-based development investments.
Jointly with a research partner we have conducted
a study to identify paths and possible next steps.
