Dr. Maritta Koch-Weser
Dr. Maritta Koch-Weser has a distinguished career in international development, as anthropologist and environmentalist, with field experience in Latin America, South & East Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, parts of the Middle East, Eastern Europe & countries of the Former Soviet Union.
Maritta worked for 20 years at the World Bank, where she held the position of Director for Environmentally & Socially Sustainable Development for the Latin America and Caribbean region. She subsequently served as Director General of IUCN - The World Conservation Union. As Founder/President of Earth3000 her work has focused on innovations in governance for environment and development.
In this capacity Maritta has also served for five years as CEO, and now Trustee, of GEXSI. She serves on the boards of a range of organizations and businesses committed to sustainable development. Her particular focus is on rainforest businesses in the Amazon region, Brazil.
Dr. Koch-Weser is Chair of the Board of Trustees.
