Social entrepreneurship

Social entrepreneurship is a term first used by Bill Drayton and relates to social entrepreneurial activity that is innovative, pragmatic and long term that achieves significant and positive change to a local communities or wider geographoc region. An entrepreneur who manages such an activity is called social entrepreneur.

Areas where a social entrepreneur typically engages their efforts to stimulate positive change include but are not restricted to: education, environmental protection, poverty reduction and human rights.
