GEXSI Charity at a glance

The aim of the GEXSI charity is to promote high-impact social investment into organisations designed to tackle specific social or environmental problems.  We strive to showcase successful ways of impact investing and to guide and support like-minded organisations that would like to enter this field.

Given the small size of the charity, we work through our global network and perform mostly as a low-cost ideas generator.  We achieve positive social and environmental impacts by:

• Influencing and supporting key change agents, such as high net worth individuals, to donate and/or invest in worthy social business ventures in developing regions;
• Helping to pioneer and advocate innovative business models that contribute to poverty alleviation and nature conservation;
• Researching and communicating the latest activity within the European impact investing community.

At the same time, GEXSI concentrates on further building our own project portfolio, where a hands-on approach is applied.  Our focus so far has been on valorising under-utilised plant species, such as Jatropha, Moringa and Pyrethrum, by supporting the incubation of social impact businesses that concentrate on developing these species.

We achieve direct impact through our BoP Fund, one of Europe’s only philanthropic investment fund that works exclusively with social businesses located in low-income regions.
